Class,
I hope you are having a good weekend. I wanted to share a couple of updates:
Nanopore Continues
The Nanopore sequencing run continues! I was hoping it would finish this weekend… The sequencing run itself finished on Friday. However, base calling is using the high-accuracy base-calling algorithm that will take several more days on that computer. This goes to show how computational power may be limiting!
The good news: we got over 250,000 sequences from the compost sample that was enriched in minimal medium with a printed circuit board. The average length is over 5 kb.
Lab Entry 3 Extended 1 Week 11/9
Because we don’t have data back, we will extend lab entry 3 one week until November 9th.
Nephele and Our Dataset
Also, this week you will use Nephele and first do an activity using a subset of data. The instructions are posted on Moodle.
We will also post our marten 16S data in LabArchives (a link to a GoogleDrive) and a Nephele QIIME2/DADA2 mapping file Billy made for us to try Nephele for our dataset.
Thank you for your time and patience!
Take care!
