Lab Data and Virtual Labs

Class,

I enjoyed our session together yesterday, and I am happy to report that the Nanopore is still sequencing! We will share the Nanopore data and results of the same microbial community used to inoculate a Biolog Eco plate (opens in new window) to learn about microbial phenotypes.

Continue working on the online module activities and posting questions on the Student Help Forum. Post updates on your podcasts!

Finalize if you haven’t already your Lab Entry in LabArchives for labs 1 and 2.

As we enter into the section of the course with online bioinformatics sessions, read the second article carefully and pay attention to how the authors document procedures. Using Hypothes.is, start conversations.

While we won’t have wet lab sessions, we will open the lab for bioinformatics sessions together in the following weeks. We will begin with the use of the Nephele web portal. This will be especially useful for the analysis of our 16S amplicon sequence data we received yesterday for the marten study! Billy and I are working on a mapping file for you to run analyses on Nephele. (opens in new window)

We will continue to support each other in the coming weeks and learn bioinformatics tools and approaches to discover patterns in microbial communities!

Take good care and don’t hesitate to ask questions!
