Last week: Wrap up and assignments

Data Analysis Project

Continue sharing updates and describe HOW you are analyzing the novel datasets with the marten samples from Dr. McKenney and Dr. Diana Lafferty. We welcome questions and have added more metadata to the folder.

Remember that  YOU are conducting new research. After carefully processing the sequences, focus on the biological significance of the trends and differences you uncover. Our dataset is rich in metadata and possible comparisons! Furthermore, you now have several tools and colleagues to work with to discover new things. What did you discover? Data analysis projects are due before 10/14.

The last day of class is on the 13th, and we need time for grading (with grades being due the following Monday)

Podcasts and BIT 577 Tutorials

The goal of the podcasts and tutorials was for you to share your conceptual (podcasts) and procedural (tutorials) with others. Get creative and combine what you learned with the passion you have to learn and do more metagenomics. We also encourage you to share your work with the group.

What did you find in the dataset(s) you analyzed?

We are excited to learn about your podcasts, tutorials, and analyses and what you discovered about microbial community analyses. Continue sharing updates and questions!

We will meet for our last synchronous Zoom session on Thursday at 12:50. We’ll take the opportunity to briefly share with each other what we learned from the data analysis projects. No need to worry about slides, just sharing a couple of your figures/results, or even just screen sharing your document is fine. We just want to hear about your process and what you found. Both have value to us and your peers.
