Course Structure: Consistency and Structure

I wanted to emphasize how we are using a consistent structure to help you learn the material, make connections, and apply the tools for your own analyses. Each week we introduce the module with an audio recording (“MetaMix Tape) that provides a brief overview and highlights the goals and connections. The modules all have a short mini-lecture and slides. Next, a reading assignment or series of videos dives deeper into the concepts. Top Hat questions prompt you to reflect and apply your knowledge. Questions are always due on Fridays along with reading summaries (for the responsible group) or forum posts (when doing JoVE critical thinking scenarios, every other week).

While we aim to provide structure and guidance through clear communication, we do need you to not let the flexibility of the asynchronous format prevent us from finishing tasks on time!

Please let us know if you have any questions we can address via the Student Forum and/or synchronous hours. We are here to help, learn, and complete the modules or quests together!

The structure simply keeps us on track, but your energy, questions, and motivation are what will ensure successful completion of the course goals and module objectives!

Consistent Structure
Consistency & Structure. Each module or quest follows a similar structure to help you find a rhythm for the coursework and apply the knowledge, leaving time to reflect.
